A Prodigal’s Party (via People of the Second Chance)

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.
The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Let’s face it. This freedom thing isn’t for everybody.

Like a pool of cool, blue water on a sunny afternoon, freedom looks appealing. Light shimmers off the surface of the water, catching our eyes and inviting us to dive in.

Why not?

But most people don’t dive in right away. They carefully dip their toes into the water and instincts tell them to immediately pull their foot back onto dry land.

As inviting as the water seems, the thought of the cool water shocking their system is enough to keep most people tied to their lounge chairs.

But you’re not most people. You’re different. You’re…you.

And for once, this is about you. After all, freedom isn’t something anyone else can give you. Freedom is found only on the crooked, makeshift path only you can form. Your path, your story, your life isn’t perfect. Nothing about you is supposed to be perfect.

But if you dive headfirst into the shockingly refreshing love of your Heavenly Father, you can be free.

Not perfect. Free.

And when you let yourself free fall into the freedom Jesus has placed in front of you, everything else washes away.

All the secrets you’ve fought so hard to hide from everyone else. All the doubts that echo in your mind. All the pressure you’ve ever felt to live up to someone else’s standard.

This is your invitation. Dive in. You are free.
