You’re Qualified!

“What the world says disqualifies you, God says qualifies you!”

Throughout my life, I was always under the impression that the best people in ministry were those who had it all together. However, God has revealed to me throughout the past several months that He often uses those who have been conflicted most! Why would God use messed up people? I have several answers to this question but on this article, I will address only a few.

First, God uses messed up people so that the ONLY one who can get the credit is God. When Elijah was on Mount Carmel, Elijah and the prophets of Baal had a showdown to see who’s God was the true God. Both Elijah and the prophets of Baal built alters on Mount Carmel and decided to pray to their respective God(s) to see who’s God would rain fire down from heaven to set the wood on fire to sacrifice a bull. Elijah, being the gentleman he is, allowed the prophets of Baal to go first. After giving the prophets ample time, nothing happened. Now it was Elijah’s turn. Let’s read God’s Word to see how it turned out:

Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down. Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.”With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs of seed. He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.” Do it again,” he said, and they did it again. Do it a third time,” he ordered, and they did it the third time. The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench. At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”

Did you see that!? Elijah decided to give the opponents home-field advantage by stacking the odds against him, but as usual, God took the victory on their court! God rained down fire from heaven and the only explanation was “The Lord-he is God!”

Second, God is a God of multiple chances. Why? He is a God of grace and mercy! God is the only one who can turn a mess into a miracle!

So what is it in your life that you believe is holding you back from being used by God? Give it to him today and let him do what only He can do! Be an example to someone else of the power of God’s grace! This is your chance! A new start! Go!

“God does call the qualified, He qualifies the called!”
