“There’s Room For EVERYONE On The Nice List” – Buddy the Elf

This morning, I walked into the kitchen to do my morning devotion and beside my Bible was the movie “Elf.” Now maybe you’ve never seen this movie, so let me go ahead and let you know you have been missing out on one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time! I decided to stick the movie in the DVD player and watch it because I know it’s a movie that always makes me laugh and the Bible says in Proverbs 14:13 that:

Laughter can conceal a heavy heart,
but when the laughter ends, the grief remains..

While watching the movie, Buddy the Elf (played by Will Ferrell) was reading the “Code of Elves” and the second code really stuck with me. He simply stated, “There’s room for everyone on the nice list.” Maybe that means nothing to you, but to me, it means everything. I began to think about the Christmas season and how so many people walk around with no peace in their lives because Christ doesn’t live within them. I thought about the conversations I have had with people who feel like they have messed their lives up too bad and that they didn’t think they could ever be redeemed. Why am I saying this? Because Buddy the Elf was right! There’s room for EVERYONE!

Jesus did not die on the cross for perfect people. He died on the cross for imperfect people and the only way we could be redeemed was through the death and resurrection of Jesus! John 3:16 says,

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

So here’s my challenge to you. The Christmas season is the one time of the year in which most people are willing to be receptive to the message of the Gospel. The Gospel is for EVERYONE! Let’s make this declaration during the remainder of the Christmas season:
