You’ve Got A New Chauffeur!

This morning, I have had the opportunity to spend some time investing in a friend of mine who I believe God is going to use in BIG ways! We decided to sit down and walk through Romans 6. God revealed something to me that I just thought I’d share with you today! Romans 6:12-14 says,

Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of Godโ€™s grace.

Can I live however I want and still be a follower of Jesus?

No. I don’t want to sound harsh, but it’s the truth. When you decide to surrender you life to Jesus and make him Lord, you’re giving up “living how you want” and now choosing to live how He wants you to live. In other words, prior to surrendering your life to Christ, your car (life) was being driven by someone and something. That someone who was driving your car was Satan and Sin. They determined where you went and what you did. They were your master. But then it happens. You decide that you no longer want to go where they have been taking you. You get out of the car and it happens.

The car that you were in has now been hit head on by Jesus. The car you were in is now demolished. Satan and sin have died. Jesus’ car, because it is bigger, stronger and more powerful is alive and well. Jesus (the driver of this other car) now looks at you and says, “come.” In obedience to him, you jump right in. You’ve got a new chauffeur! You have someone new driving your car (life)! You no longer have the desire to jump in the car that has died and been demolished, you want to stay in the car that runs perfectly and stay with a driver that takes you better places.

You can’t serve two masters. You have the choice. You can choose to live a selfish life that is centered around your own wants and desires or you can choose to surrender your wants and desires to Jesus and make Him Lord of your life. Which will you choose?

My prayer today is that you will choose a new chauffeur! Trust his guidance and direction. Remember, he knows the best way to get you were you need to go! Trust Him.
